PLAYAWAY INSTRUCTIONS

How to Play : Player with Power Button

 Quick Start 

·         Press the Power button (button #2 on above diagram). Your Playaway will turn on, paused where you last left off.

·         Press the Playaway button (button #8) to start playing. To pause again, press this button once.

·         To turn off, press and hold the power button.  The LCD screen will count backwards from 3, and when you see OFF, release the button. 

Keypad Tutorial 

(1)  Equalizer
Press to rotate through the following EQ modes:

·         NONE: No EQ setting

·         LOUD: Overall sound is boosted

·         LOW: Bass is boosted

·         HIGH: Treble is boosted

·         CLEAR: High end sound is amplified

·         HIFI: Sound is mixed for best performance 

(2)  Power
Press once to turn unit on. Press and hold to power down; release when OFF appears on the LCD screen.

(3)  Depending on whether you have an audiobook or music on your Playaway, this button will serve as either the speed control or shuffle play:

·         Narrator Speed (for audiobooks)
Press once to adjust the speed of the narrator’s voice. LCD screen displays the three speed levels: SPD (normal), SPD+ (fast), and SPD++ (fastest).

·         Shuffle Play (for music)
Press the button once to enable Shuffle Play mode and cause the tracks to play in random order. Press gain to disable. 

(4)  Volume Down
Press once to go down one level, or press and hold to accelerate volume decrease. 

(5)  LCD Screen
The LCD screen automatically switches between the chapter number and the time remaining the chapter. In its normal playing state, the screen shows the battery icon. At the conclusion of the book, the LCD will display the word END and then automatically shuts off after 10 seconds. 

(6)  Volume Up
Press once to go up one level (up to 20) or press and hold to accelerate volume increase. 

(7)  Reverse
Press once to go back an entire chapter or track, and press and hold to rewind within a chapter or track. 

(8)  Playaway Button

·         Play: When paused, press once to play.

·         Pause: When playing, press once to pause. 

(9)  Forward
Press once to advance one chapter or track, or press and hold to fast forward within a chapter or track. 

Changing the Battery 

Playaway holds one AAA battery at the wide base of the unit. One AAA battery typically lasts up to 12 hours.  To change the battery, you can open the battery door by pushing firmly (with your thumb or a blunt object such as a dime or pen cap) to pop the cover open. 

Attaching a Lanyard

Playaways feature a lanyard clip at the top of the unit. If you are looking at the front label, you can push up firmly with your thumb or a dime for the clip to pop up.  You can now thread a lanyard through the clip.
